Unintentional Humor

10 May 2010 316 views One Comment

I haven’t posted in a while, and I know I need to catch up on a few things. I wanted to add a quick post on something I found while preparing for an interview.

I love unintentional humor, and discovered a gem when I read this sentence from All Music’s bio on the band, Trout Fishing In America:

“In addition to their kid-friendly songwriting, the band also delighted children with their rather arresting physical appearance, which saw Idlet standing at a whopping 6′9″ tall. Grimwood, meanwhile, remained roughly 14 inches shorter than his bandmate.”

The use of the word “remained” here is a true howler. I can picture the two of them standing back to back once a year and their manager getting out the tape measure. “Yep, still 14 inches.”

Taken just before their manager measured to ensure that the 14 inch gap remained.

I had to come back to this again. I am working on a children’s book about the duo’s 14-inch gap.

Iglet Refused to Shrink; Grimwood Refused to Grow

Advance copies available for members of the press or AllMusic.com writers.

    (last jab definitely intentional)
